We thought it would be interesting to share with you a unique insight into the behind-the-scenes aspects of geophysical field work, offering glimpses into the setup, operation, or maintenance of geophysical instruments and equipment. Here are a few examples.
Operational success on-wheels! Abitibi Geophysics’ Portable Lab units are used to support field crews. Each container has all the required equipment and spares needed for its dedicated project. So many advantages come with those portable labs:
-
Small repairs can be made in the field.
-
A place to host our daily health and safety meetings.
-
Less trucks are needed to mobilize equipment, and the containers can be parked onsite.
-
In the cold seasons they keep the instrumentation warm, for better performance.
The smaller units are used for smaller tasks while the larger ones are used for methods that require more equipment like EM surveys.
So many methods require technical diversity! We have an in-house technical department that can provide our team with the proper training and support as well as perform repairs for a full range of geophysical equipment. Our department, led by Jonathan Collins, Director of R&D, enables Abitibi Geophysics to deliver efficiently in the field operation.
Hide and seek! In our Val-d'Or office, we are continuously enhancing our instrumentation capabilities. Notably, in our main lab, we've integrated an EM loop into the ceiling to better test our Armit sensors. Our commitment to innovation ensures that we consistently push boundaries to deliver exceptional results.
Because the loop is hidden, we did a little sketch:
